Supporting Small-Scale Farmers

Project Name: Supporting Small Scale Farmers to Ensure Food Security, Livelihoods and Agrobiodiversity.

Preface

Bangladesh is a developing agricultural nation. In this nation, agriculture either directly or indirectly supports almost 75% of the population. Therefore, agriculture serves as both the foundation of our existence and the primary engine of our economy. However, our country’s rural farmers continue to face challenges in their daily lives, which they must overcome in order to obtain their daily food. They continue to be held captive by the local moneylenders. They struggle to give their kids a healthy diet, an education, and medical treatment. We want to help these small farming communities live a little better lives and provide for their children. This initiative has been initiated by SESDO with this objective in mind.

  1. Significance

The future of food depends on small-scale farming. A rising nation like Bangladesh benefits greatly from agriculture, which has been essential to our survival since the dawn of time. But the fact that our country’s small-scale farmers have yet to be able to better their situation is extremely disappointing to us, and the only explanation for this is that they receive no financial or social help from the local level. Local small farmers still don’t have a lot of understanding about agricultural relationships. So, in order to better their situation, we must visit farmers in rural areas, who should inform them of the best times and types of vegetables or crops to grow. By exposing students to various agricultural training programs, they should be encouraged to pursue a career in agriculture. We can advance the overall economy of our nation and enhance the condition of these small-scale farmers in our rural areas if we can do so. Therefore, we place a great deal of importance on the total project and its scope.

  1. Objectives

Small farmers and rural residents make up a disproportionate share of the hungry and disadvantaged. However, they also offer the best chance of boosting crop diversity and land productivity to feed a population that is expanding. Due to these reasons the primary goal of this project is to protect local small scale farmers by initiating these following targets.

  • To make the farmers aware about various small farming practices.
  • To make them aware about modern farming by imparting different types of training.
  • As agriculture is completely dependent on the season, training the rural small farmers on which crops are best grown in certain seasons.
  • Donate them seeds of different types of vegetables.
  • To make them aware about how to make profit by doing various types of cultivation in the home yard.
  • To make them interested in small farming like mushroom cultivation, vegetable cultivation, Vegetable Landscaping etc.
